RPG Update

This post is regarding a recent change in character selection. Previously, one could select their hero from a lineup of 4 male and 4 female characters. To speed up production I've reduced the choices to just male or female. The "Characters" section on the blog has bee updated to reveal the 2 heroes I've selected from the mix as well as a sneak peek at some party members you'll meet along the way.
I've also updated the "Maps" section with a map of the main city, Castle Towne and I also added a few more gameplay screenshots. I'm working on adding some videos soon so keep an eye out for that! Thank you for your time and interest, I assure you that I won't let you down.

RPG NEWS

It's taken me a long time to update to blog but rest assured, every minute I have to spare goes into the Dawn of Astra! I took up a seasonal job back in December shoveling snow and now that winter passes over and opens up for spring, I have more time to work on my project. If you have any questions or comments just leave it in the comments or contact me via Twitter: @Neimad27.

The Way of the Blogger

Welcome to the blog! I'm currently working an RPG called "The Dawn of Astra - Matriarch of Mana". I'm building it with RPGMaker2003 and using much of the stock art as well as downloaded templates (which will be credited in the full version of the game) and my own custom art. Here are some cool features to look out for in the game which I'm hoping to have a demo ready by early 2012.

Character select:
At the beginning of your story you will be asked to select your hero from a lineup of four male and four female characters. There is no better character, they all have the same base stats until you choose your class.

Guild select:
There are four class choices: Warrior, Thief, Cleric & Mage that all have distinctive qualities you'd expect (ie: thieves breaking into houses, clerics healing, warrior smash, etc). The main towns within the game have the four base guilds where you can learn new skills. The idea is to give different attributes, skills, items, and bonuses to make each class choice a different experience while keeping the same basic story.

Potions/Booze/Food?
Yes, you'll be able to consume booze and food to restore health, mana, spell-ups, etc. Sometimes asking around you get an idea of what's good and what's bad but if it saves you 200 gold when you buy a drink instead of buying a haste potion then why not.

RPG Humor
Remember the old days? NPC's would appear crazy with poor translations and brief statements? Well, you'll find some of that around the world as your adventure progresses. It won't take away from the story but adds a little old-school humor to some of the NPC's. You could also look out for stereotypes and simple town names as well!
